The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process through which adults are welcomed and initiated into the Catholic Church. The RCIA journey is guided by clergy and laypeople, who accompany participants as they learn about the Catholic faith and discern their call to enter the Church.
The process typically includes weekly regular in-person sessions, participation in weekly Mass, prayer, reflection, and opportunities to learn about Catholic teachings, Scripture, and the life of the Church.
RCIA serves as a time of preparation and discernment, giving you the opportunity to learn about the Catholic faith and make an informed commitment to living a life rooted in Catholic principles. The process honours your unique faith journey, inviting personal reflection, deepening your relationship with God, and fostering a sense of belonging within the wider Catholic Church.
Following a period of preparation and discernment, individuals are welcomed into the Catholic faith at the celebration of the Easter Vigil. The RCIA process is open both to those who have already been baptized and to those who are seeking baptism.
